Curbtender has long been committed to building refuse collection vehicles that run cleaner and more efficiently; from CNG outfitted automated side loaders to all-electric rear loaders.
Curbtender and Battle Motors have teamed up to offer the popular Quantum MD rear loader with the Battle Motors fully electric low narrow tilt (LNT) chassis. Quantum’s patented design allows for a faster, lighter rear loader with industry leading legal payload. Pair this with the Battle Motors LNT which expertly maneuvers tight side streets and alleyways and you’ve got a rear loader ready to tackle your route with zero emissions! Curbtender has partnered with Drive Labs to develop all electric, zero emission refuse trucks. Introductory models will be available on the Quantum rear loader model and will be additionally available on the TomCat manual side loader model. The all electric refuse trucks will be built on Ford chassis.
Featuring the Drive Labs propulsion system, the electric Quantum features a top-of-body battery pack to minimize wheelbase length and improve maneuverability. The top-of-body batter pack also keeps the system protected from potential side impact events. The Drive Labs propulsion system retains much of the proven Ford F-600 chassis and driveline, providing a durable platform for demanding refuse fleets while offering an anticipated range of over 100 miles on a full charge.
The Curbtender Quantum is one of the top selling small rear loading refuse vehicles in the U.S., and it is now available with an all-electric, zero emission propulsion system from Drive Labs. Built on the rugged, versatile Ford F-600 chassis, the Drive Labs™ Curbtender eQuantum offers all the advantages of the original legendary refuse truck with none of the noise, fumes or emissions of a diesel-powered vehicle. It’s the ideal battery electric fleet solution for cities and utilities looking to plug into the future of zero emission waste management.
The TomCat is Curbtender’s most versatile refuse collection truck, and it will soon be available with an all-electric, zero emission propulsion system from Drive Labs. Built on the rugged, versatile Ford F-600 chassis, the Drive Labs™ Curbtender eTomCat offers all the advantages of the original manual side loader with none of the noise, fumes or emissions of a diesel-powered vehicle. It’s the ideal battery electric fleet solution for cities and utilities looking to plug into the future of zero emission waste management.
Most of our refuse trucks can be outfitted for CNG fuel systems, often with accommodation for rooftop CNG fuel tanks. This includes our popular PowerPak Automated Side Loader, as well as our Fuzion Split Body Automated Side Loader. The Fuzion SB automated side loader is designed with a sleek, low profile that allows more clearance from trees and other low hanging obstructions. The lower profile is especially helpful in roof-mounted CNG configurations.
Curbtender is focused on providing fleet-ready electric refuse collection vehicles. For a number of reasons, class 6 refuse trucks will be the first feasible fleet solutions for waste haulers. Most importantly, the charging station required is much smaller than that needed by a class 8 truck. This means the charger can be affordably purchased and installed, typically without major improvements to the power distribution at a fleet’s facility.
Curbtender’s eQuantum and eTomCat refuse models are EV solutions that are ready to be put to work in today’s fleet. Wondering if Curbtender’s EV products are right for your fleet? Contact us today for a free power usage study. Our data logging system will capture real power demand from your specific route, which is then analyzed by our team of engineers to ensure our solutions will work on your route.
Curbtender has been involved in several feasibility studies as well as prototype development for class 8 all-electric refuse trucks. Make no mistake, electric chassis are the future of the waste industry! However, major hurdles currently exist with electric infrastructure, battery packaging, and battery cost which largely relegates class 8 all-electric refuse trucks to evaluative technology right now. For the fleets interested in being first to move to electric, Curbtender is ready to partner together to implement EV automated side loaders. Our partnership with XL Grid helps us bring expert analysis to the fleet’s facility capabilities and recharge needs.
